There are a number of issues today that affect the practice of science, and particularly university science. With improvements in the web and internet technologies, the potential exists for far more transparent and effective methods to carry out and communicate science, along with obfuscation due to the sheer volume of information and changing areas of expertise.

This blog is entitled ‘A Current Opinion’ mostly since I expect my views to change over the course of time, being directed by additional information and the opinions and experiences of my colleagues. As such, despite the blog medium being less transient than conversation, it should be taken that this is both an open discussion forum and that my opinions found within these posts are subject to change. Neither should they be taken as the position of my employer or a reflection of specific University policies.
