The university Clearing process in the UK begins tomorrow – this is the last dash for precious places at University by hopeful students. And in about a month this means that there will be another new cohort of happy freshers! But what it also means, thanks to a reminder from the Beloit mindset list, is that I realised I will have been using the internet for communication for longer than most of my new students have been alive.
So it shouldn’t have surprised me this afternoon when one of my current students came to talk to me about her project … I was busy drafting the beginnings of a paper on her work as she walked in. She looked at the screen as I asked her a couple of quick details, and realised it was her work. Her eyes opened wide with excitement … “You’re writing a pdf?”
So hopefully it means the author of “Towards Scholarly HTML” need not worry about the future, once us crusties are out of the way!
